Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live;learn to use good judgment. – Proverbs 9:6 NLT

Sports. Bands. Committees. Opportunities, for teamwork, or stardom. The quarterback who keeps the ball on every play, or passes and hands off to other teammates to advance down the field. The musician who insists on playing the entire song or not at all, or the one who serves the song and only plays as needed. The CEO who micro-manages and looks like he/she does everything him/her self, or the CEO who trusts the board members and department heads.

Sometimes the easiest way to do things is your own, alone. Others can clutter up your “perfect,” “right” way. To act alone is the simplest way, but we’re not alone. To leave your simple ways behind, is to leave selfishness. Someone once said that the humble heart doesn’t say, “I can’t do anything.” It says, “I can’t do everything.” Live for Him, then each other. He who wants to be first, must be last, and humble servant of all.
